ExploreTo deploy a Flask or Django application on a Python server, first clarify the Python version, dependencies, and entry file supported by the application. Then define the WSGI settings appropriate for your environment, point the domain to the application, and verify the same request using new log entries. Menus may be limited in shared hosting panels; on a managed VPS or physical server, you also need access to the process manager and web server settings.
Before installing the application, identify the access you have. On shared hosting, you can generally use the Python application screen in the control panel, the application root, the Python version, and the startup file fields. If you manage the server yourself, whether it is a VPS or a physical server, you are also responsible for settings such as creating a virtual environment, running the WSGI server, configuring the reverse proxy, and managing the process.
WSGI is the standard interface that enables communication between a Python web application and a web server. In a production environment, your application is expected to connect to a WSGI-compatible server rather than run directly with the development server. For Flask, the application object is the starting point in most projects; for Django, it is usually the WSGI module within the project. The actual file and object name vary by project.
The first decision is made here: if your panel has a Python application and WSGI entry field, use the panel method; if these fields are unavailable, proceed to service and web server configuration only on a server where you have administrator access. On a shared account without administrator access, it is safer to use the application runtime model supported by the provider instead of trying to add a system service.
502 Bad Gateway usually indicates that the web server did not receive a valid response from the Python application process; by itself, it does not prove a specific line in the Python code. If the log shows that the application process could not start, that the module could not be found, or that the connection was refused, first compare the WSGI entry point, working directory, and virtual environment. If the entry file is correct but the process closes immediately, inspect the first lines of the exception that occurred during startup and any missing configuration variables.
For example, suppose hypothetically that the application root has been selected correctly, but the entry at the time stamp of the new request contains a module not found warning. This finding is not a reason to change the domain. First check that the file is actually located in the specified root and that the WSGI process uses the same virtual environment. If the file is in the correct location, consider the possibility of a missing package and an incorrect module name separately. After making the correction, open the same URL again and verify that the module error has disappeared at the new time stamp.
If the new entry shows that the connection was refused, check whether the WSGI process is running and whether the socket or internal port that the web server is trying to reach is the same one used by the process. If the application opens but does not respond through the domain, DNS and reverse-proxy mapping become the focus instead. Before each change, record the current entry value, application root, and relevant site setting; change only one setting at a time.
If the error changes after a modification or the application cannot start at all, restore the last working setting and stop further attempts. Instead of deleting files, disabling security checks, or broadly expanding permissions, target the single setting indicated by the error. If the logs and Python application screen in a shared panel do not provide sufficient evidence, give the provider the application name, request time, and error type; do not send secrets or user data.
If you are considering choosing among server rental options after the initial deployment, do not base your decision only on Python support. Administrator access, the supported Python runtime model, log access, and the process management required by the application should be evaluated together. The next safe step is to confirm in writing whether the current environment is a panel or an administrator-controlled server, and the exact name of the WSGI entry file.
