What is Plesk?

Plesk is a powerful control panel used for web hosting management. However, you may encounter some technical issues during the installation process. In this article, we will address common problems encountered during Plesk installation and provide step-by-step solutions.

Source of Installation Issues

The most common problems during Plesk installation include:

  • Missing required dependencies
  • Network configuration errors
  • Insufficient server resources
  • Firewall settings

Step 1: Preparing the Server

First, check for the necessary dependencies on your server. Connect to your server via SSH:

ssh root@your_server_ip

If you are using AlmaLinux or CentOS, run the following commands to install the necessary packages:

yum install -y wget curl

Step 2: Downloading Plesk Installation Files

Use the following command to download the Plesk installation files:

wget https://autoinstall.plesk.com/one-click-installer

Once the download is complete, run the file:

bash one-click-installer

Step 3: Installation Process

The installation wizard will open. Fill in the required information. Make sure to select the following options during installation:

  • Firewall settings
  • SSL certificate installation

If you see an error during installation, carefully check the screen and note the error indicated.

Step 4: Checking Network Settings

To check network settings, use the following commands:

ip a

Ensure your IP address is configured correctly. If there is a problem, edit the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file:

nano /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

Step 5: Firewall Settings

Firewall settings can prevent Plesk from functioning correctly. Check your firewall settings with the following command:

firewall-cmd --list-all

To open the required ports for Plesk:

firewall-cmd --add-port=8880/tcp --permanent
firewall-cmd --add-port=8443/tcp --permanent
firewall-cmd --reload

Step 6: Accessing the Plesk Interface

After the installation is complete, access the Plesk interface by entering:

https://your_server_ip:8443

in your browser and log in with the username and password you set during installation.

Conclusion

Follow the above steps for a smooth installation of Plesk. If you encounter any issues, identify the source of the error and make the necessary corrections. Remember, if your server resources are insufficient, renting a high-performance server or turning to cloud computing services may be a good solution.
